Our Lady of Guadalupe

Today is the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of the Americas and the unborn. Read the story of Our Lady of Guadalupe here: Memorial of Juan Diego.

Reflect on the words she spoke to St. Juan Diego, “Hear and let it penetrate into your heart, my dear little son: let nothing discourage you, nothing depress you. Let nothing alter your heart or your countenance. Also, do not fear any illness or vexation, anxiety or pain. Am I not here who am your mother? Are you not under my shadow and protection? Am I not your fountain of life? Are you not in the folds of my mantle, in the crossing of my arms? Is there anything else that you need?” Bishop Robert Barron: The Challenge of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

If there is a child in your life, give them a copy of the book The Lady of Guadalupe by Tomie dePaola.  Tomie dePaola has written and illustrated over a 100 books for children. Many based on saint stories and folk tales. As a young man dePaola briefly became a Benedictine monk, and his Catholicism informs his work.
