Bruce Springsteen

Bruce Springsteen‘s new memoir, Born to Run, has been a welcome distraction from this dispiriting political season. He’s a better songwriter than memoirist, although that’s not saying much, as he’s one of the greatest songwriters of all time, and man does he have a story to tell. It’s a little St. Augustine too, as the Boss, looks for something more than a girl in every town. Bruce Springsteen grew up in a Catholic immigrant community. More on that experience in our book. More on his memoir in America: Praying With Bruce Springsteen. Listen to one of his more Catholic songs Badlands here:

“But I believe in the love that you gave me / I believe in the faith that could save me / I believe in the hope / And I pray that some day it may raise me.”  – Bruce Springsteen, Badlands
