TCC Playlist: Touch The Hem of His Garment by Sam Cooke

Sam Cooke

The son of a Baptist minister, and one of eight children, Sam Cooke got his start singing in church.  He later sang with the gospel group the Soul Stirrers, and eventually crossed over to popular music.  Arguably the most important soul singer in history, even as a pop star, Cooke continued to be a voice for peace and justice with songs about the Civil Rights movement like “A Change is Gonna Come.” Today’s Gospel reading is from Mark 5:21-43, where the woman with the hemorrhages is cured by Jesus.
