birth control pills Virginia Sole-Smith writes about how birth control pills have been prescribed to treat everything from acne to cramps, but they do have side effects. The Pill can mask symptoms of endometriosis and polycystic ovarian syndrome – both of which can cause infertility, and some women on the Pill also complain of depression and low-libido. Though pro-choice and pro-Pill Sole-Smith writes, “The ‘fertility awareness method,’ [also known as Natural Family Planning] once the sole province of religions that didn’t allow other forms of contraception, has been newly embraced by holistic women’s health experts such as Northrup, who says it can be at least 95 percent effective when used correctly.” Read the whole thing in Elle here: Wonder Drug
