The Swan Silvertones

The Swan Silvertones were a popular American gospel group in the 1940s and 50s. We love their rendition of “Oh Mary Don’t You Weep” an African American spiritual that pre-dates the Civil War. The story of Moses delivering the slaves out of Egypt inspired American slaves and “Mary Don’t You Weep” played an important role in the American Civil Rights Movement.
