Prayer for the Victims of a Natural Disaster

Lord Jesus, Who went about doing good and healing all, we ask You to bless all people who are injured, sick or homeless due to this typhoon. O Jesus, You suffered and died for us; You understand suffering. Give them strength in body, courage in spirit, and patience in pain. Calm their fears; increase their trust. And bless all who hasten to their aid. Amen.

Most scientists agree that severe weather events are made worse by climate change. Pope Benedict XVI criticized world leaders for not doing enough to halt climate change, made the Vatican the world’s only carbon-neutral state, and named “polluting the environment” a sin that required repentance. Pope Francis has called on Christians to be good stewards of creation. Learn more about the Church’s teachings on this issue at Catholic Climate Covenant.
