Poetry and prayers for your Sunday here:

Although the winds be mighty,
And high waves in the sea,
Yet wisdom is the pilot —
The powerful Lord is he;
Despite transgression’s deluge,
Corruptions foul and dark,
We’ll yet escape the drowning
Because God is our ark.

– Ann Griffiths 18th c.

The Father spoke one Word,
which was his Son,
and this Word he speaks always in eternal silence,
and in silence must be heard by the soul.
-St. John of the Cross

He is the Way.
Follow Him through the Land of Unlikeness,
You will see rare beasts, and have unique adventures.
He is the truth.
Seek Him in the Kingdom of Anxiety;
You will come to a great city that has elected your return
for years.
He is the Life!
Love Him in the World of the Flesh;
And at your marriage all its occasions shall dance for joy.

– W.H. Auden 20th c.

He makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.

Once you know something, you can’t get rid of it. You have to carry it. Always.

-The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon

For I handed on to you as of first importance what I had in turn received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures. . .

– I Corinthians 15: 3-4a by St. Paul

Thus says the Lord: Say to those whose hearts are frightened: Be strong, fear not. Here is your God, he comes with vindication; with divine recompense he comes to save you. Then will the eyes of the blind be opened, the ears of the deaf be cleared; then will the lame leap like a stag, then the tongue of the mute will sing. Streams will burst forth in the desert, and rivers in the steppe. The burning sands will become pools, and the thirsty grounds, springs of water.

– Isaiah 35:4-7
