Senator Wendy Davis recently filibustered a bill that would’ve made it illegal for mothers to have abortions in Texas after 20 weeks except in the case of fetal abnormalities or to protect the health of the mother. In Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece and Italy, abortion is illegal after 12 weeks. In this article in The Washington Post, Professor Charles Camosy, asks why America’s abortion laws don’t better represent public opinion. He writes, “While a clear majority of Americans want abortion to be legal in some fashion, a solid majority also energetically support more restrictions.” 80% of Americans believe abortion should be illegal after 24 weeks and and 64% believe it should be illegal between 13- 24 weeks. Read the whole article in response to Wendy Davis here: Opposing abortion after 20 weeks
