Jonathan Safran Foer writes in The New York Times about how technology is making it easier for us not to give each other our full attention, “Everyone wants his parent’s, or friend’s, or partner’s undivided attention — even if many of us, especially children, are getting used to far less. Simone Weil wrote, ‘Attention is the rarest and purest form of generosity.’ By this definition, our relationships to the world, and to one another, and to ourselves, are becoming increasingly miserly.” Read the whole essay in The New York Times here: How Not to Be Alone. Then think of ways to be more present to those around you.  A good place to start might be turning off your phone before sitting down to a meal with family or friends.
