Misc: Pope Calls for Action Dec. 10th Against Scandal of Global Hunger

hunger worldwide (Above nuns working with Caritas.) 1 billion people suffer from hunger. Pope Francis has said, “We cannot look the other way and pretend [hunger] does not exist.” He has asked all U.S Catholics to pray for an end to hunger today at noon and to support the work of Caritas to end world hunger. We can begin by reducing our food waste and donating money during Advent. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops is currently lobbying for comprehensive immigration reform. Between 1892 and 1997 the United States deported 2.1 million people.  By the end of next year the Obama administration will have deported that many in just six years. Thousands of children born in the United States have been thrown into foster care, and families are being torn apart.  When Jesus is asked in Matthew 25 who will get into heaven, he offers these criteria,

“I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me.”
